Angie has practiced Tai Chi for over a decade, with extensive training in Cheng Man Ching’s 37-movement short form, Yang-style Tai Chi, sword, qigong, and push hands. She continues to deepen her practice through ongoing study, partner practice, and participation in local and regional push-hands groups. Her training also includes seated and adapted Tai Chi, with an emphasis on making mindful movement accessible to people with a range of abilities and experience levels.
Her approach is also shaped by more than 25 years of yoga practice, including a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, as well as a background in gymnastics, music, rhythm, and creative movement. A longtime guitarist, songwriter, and percussionist, Angie is especially interested in the connection between rhythm and movement—and how both can help us move out of overthinking and into greater awareness, creativity, and flow.
Angie has taught Tai Chi in libraries, community centers, sports clubs, and outdoor settings. Through MindfulBeat, she brings together Tai Chi, mindful movement, rhythm, music, creative exploration, writing, and video, with an approach that emphasizes body awareness, balance, curiosity, play, and discovering ways of moving that feel natural and alive.
